For my project I made a film based on inspiration from the TV series “Black Mirror”. This Series is future thinking and paints a picture on high the world and technology will evolve. In the episode nose dive there is a rating system in place that controls how someone’s life is planned out, where they work, who they socialise with etc. I have created a rating system in the society I am portraying. The reading system determines how you are defined and whether you are useful to society or not. The story goes on showing to people with very different views on the reading system, plan he tries very hard to keep his reading up and tries to better his life by continuing with government jobs and is realise a very trustworthy person for the government to take advantage off. Lisa on the other hand dismisses the rating system and does not do any government jobs to fill the average rating standard therefore she has zero stars. The government monitors the rating system and anyone who has zero stars will be terminated from the society. The government agreed to give Glen the five stars he has always worked towards if he terminates Lisa from society. This shows a split screen narrative of both sides of the story.
The choice of music plays of the atmosphere of each scene the first song being MIA paper planes as the theme of the song is about hostel and working for money which fits the theme of plan and his goals.
The second song being stay high Tove Lo , Representing a person he is wasting life and is not contributing to society which plays off what Lisa is standing for and what is portraying in the film.
The third and fourth song play off adrenaline coming up to a fight/murder scene and their final song is used as a contrast against what the visuals are against what the audio is which is the The cardigans – love fool
